These flavorful gluten free, low FODMAP Thanksgiving recipes are sure to please everyone you're celebrating with this holiday season!

After Christmas, Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday.

There’s no pressure & no strings attached~only to celebrate and give thanks for our loved ones, and for all good things, large and small, in our lives.

Happy Thanksgiving!

As delicious as the traditional Thanksgiving feast is though, celebrating the holidays while following a special diet can be difficult for sure {I speak from experience}. And, that’s why I’m thankful for these delicious gluten free, low FODMAP Thanksgiving recipes that EVERYONE in my family enjoys. I promise you, there’s something here each and every one of your friends and family will love!

Before I share the gluten free, low FODMAP Thanksgiving recipes with you, I wanted to take a moment to share a few tips from my low FODMAP blogger friends, about surviving the holiday season with food intolerances…

If you’re going to someone else’s place for the holidays, the first thing you should do when you arrive is check out the foods that are on offer. Then you can ask questions about the food before it’s time to eat. This is a great strategy if you get embarrassed about asking questions in front of everyone else, since you’ll already have everything worked out before you sit down to eat.

Dr. Glenda Bishop, A Less Irritable Life

When in doubt for your low-FODMAP Thanksgiving, make your own dish or just stick to healthy portions of turkey, low-FODMAP vegetables, and a gluten-free dessert. Limit the amount of sugars you have and watch your portions and how many different foods you have. Thanksgiving in the past for me was always a time where I would spend days after not feeling well, not only because of the FODMAPs I was unaware of, but also from trying too many different foods – and what’s so fun about feeling crappy afterward!”

Colleen Francioli, FODMAP Life

“Don’t rush the meal. Food should be savoured and enjoyed!  Chew slowly and pop your cutlery down between mouthfuls. Eating slowly also gives your stomach time to communicate with your brain so you can recognise when you are full. Digestion begins in the mouth, so well-chewed food is also easier for your body to digest.”

This year, as we have for the past several years, we’ll be celebrating at my mother- and father-in-laws’ house, along with my parents, Uncle Keith, and Mr. Spicy’s grandfather who will celebrate his 99th birthday 5 days after Thanksgiving. I’d say we have a lot to be thankful for!

  1. I’m so glad you posted this! 1- I needed a goat cheese healthy mashed potato recipe for the big day, and 2- I don’t know how to cook a turkey lol! I am definitely looking at your herbed turkey tutorial. Stumbling, pinning and sharing now my friend!
