Wild Blueberry Ginger Mint Green Iced Tea
Bursting with antioxidants, this healthy and refreshing Wild Blueberry Ginger Mint Green Iced Tea is a delicious non-alcoholic drink to celebrate with all summer long!
Summer entertaining season is officially here! With a beautiful weekend of blue skies and mid-70s temps, it feels like the perfect excuse to celebrate outside with a new drink to match. Which is how I ended up experimenting with the most delicious green tea, mint, and fresh blueberries for this refreshing summer sipper.
Blueberry Ginger Mint Green Iced Tea Ingredients
- Wild blueberries. One of my favorite brain-boosting MIND diet ingredients. Unless you’re in Maine or Eastern Canada in late summer, you’ll find them in your freezer section.
- Mint green tea. Like this Tazo Zen Green Tea, or your favorite variety.
- Fresh ginger. Ground ginger works in a pinch too.
- Maple syrup. To add a hint of sweetness. Honey would be delicious too!
- Optional ingredients. Sparkling water & fresh mint.
How to Make Wild Blueberry Ginger Mint Green Iced Tea
- Make a batch of wild blueberry simple syrup with water, wild blueberries, maple syrup, and ginger, while you brew the tea.
- Mix the brewed tea with your simple syrup in a heat-proof pitcher, then let it cool.
- Pour into glasses over ice. Top it off with sparkling water (optional). And add fresh mint and extra wild blueberries to make it pretty. Cheers!
Wild Blueberry Ginger Mint Green Iced Tea
Ingredients
- 7 cups water, divided
- 6 Tazo Zen Green Tea Bags or your favorite mint green tea
- 1 cup frozen wild blueberries, plus extra for garnish
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- Optional, sparkling water & fresh mint leaves
Instructions
- Heat 6 cups of water to boiling in tea maker, tea kettle, or pot over the stove. Remove from heat and add tea bags. Steep for 5 or more minutes.
- While water is heating, combine blueberries, remaining 1 cup of water, maple syrup, and ginger in a medium sauce pan. Heat on high until mixture boils, then turn down heat to a gentle boil, and cook for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, then carefully pour blueberry mixture into a blender, and blend on high until blueberries are pureed. Strain blueberry mixture into a fine mesh colander placed over a jar, bowl, or liquid measuring cup.
- Pour hot tea and blueberry mixture into a heat proof pitcher, and place in refrigerator to cool. Alternatively, you may fill up the pitcher with ice first, then pour the tea and blueberry syrup over the ice if you want to serve immediately.
- To serve: Pour ~ 1 cup blueberry tea into tall glasses filled with ice. Garnish with fresh mint if desired, and top off with plain or flavored {mint works nicely} sparkling water.
