What’s In My Easy 3-Ingredient Gluten-Free Flour Recipe?

Need a quick AND nutritious gluten-free flour recipe? Look no further than this Easy, 3-Ingredient All-Purpose Gluten-Free Flour Recipe, made with sorghum, one of my favorite Super 7 Nutritious Gluten-Free Grains. It’s rich in protein, fiber, B vitamins, iron, and antioxidants.

Sorghum flour is also a good alternative for people who can’t eat rice or are choosing to cut back on rice products due to the potential for arsenic contamination. This is a good article from Gluten-Free Watchdog on arsenic in rice, Arsenic and Mercury in Rice: New Research from Dartmouth College.

Personal note: While I still include rice in my gluten-free diet, I try to enjoy a wide variety of gluten-free grains, so I’m not regularly consuming lots of rice products.

In addition to sorghum flour, my easy recipe includes tapioca starch and potato starch in the following ratio:

  • 2/3 sorghum flour (higher in protein)
  • 1/3 combination of tapioca and potato starch (high in starch)

Sorghum Flour Brands & Where to Buy

Sorghum flour isn’t as readily available as brown rice flour, however, you can probably find it at Whole Foods, and I also buy it at Jimbo’s Naturally here in San Diego. If you can’t find it in your local grocery store, it’s easy to buy online via Thrive Market or Amazon. Check out the following sorghum flour brands:

Use this 3-Ingredient Gluten-Free Flour Recipe in any recipes that call for “gluten-free flour”, “gluten-free flour blend”, or “all-purpose gluten-free flour.”

Please note that this recipe does NOT contain xanthan gum. I find I rarely use xantham gum in most of my recipes. If you have a recipe that calls for it, simply add it along with the gluten-free flour blend.
