If you’ve ever snuck a bite of raw cookie dough straight from the bowl (no judgment!), these chocolate chip cookie dough bites are going to be your new favorite thing. They taste like the real deal, but they’re made with almond flour and protein powder, so they’re completely safe to eat. No raw eggs, no baking required.

And yes, they take about 5 minutes to make.

These were inspired by Hail Merry Chocolate Chip Energy Bites. Have you tried them? They’re genuinely delicious, but like most ready-to-eat healthy snacks, pretty pricey. So I made my own version, and honestly? They’re just as good. My budget-friendly version have twice the protein & almost half the sugar. A win-win!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • HEALTHY TREAT – Each cookie dough bite is under 150 calories with 5 grams of protein and only 4 grams of sugar. Snack goals.
  • QUICK & EASY – Five minutes and a handful of pantry ingredients. These cookie dough bites come together faster than it takes to preheat an oven.
  • BUDGET-FRIENDLY– All the flavor of store-bought cookie dough bites at a fraction of the cost.

Here’s what you need to make these yummy, no bake treat. Just six simple ingredients:

  • Almond flour. For the best cookie-dough texture, choose a super-fine almond flour, like Bob’s Red Mill.
  • Protein powder. I love unsweetened Naked Brown Rice Protein or Noosh Almond Protein here. See the recipe notes for low-FODMAP and vegan options.
  • Almond oil. Keeps things consistent with the almond theme! Avocado oil or expeller-pressed high-oleic sunflower oil also works great.
  • Pantry staples. Pure maple syrup for a touch of natural sweetness, plus a pinch of fine sea salt to make everything pop.
  • Dark chocolate chips. Because cookie dough bites without chocolate chips aren’t really cookie dough bites. Use vegan chocolate chips to keep this dairy-free if desired.

These no-bake cookie dough bites are almost embarrassingly easy. Here’s the quick version:

  1. Combine almond flour, protein powder, oil, maple syrup, and salt in a food processor (or mixing bowl). Process on high until the mixture starts to come together into a ball — or mix well with a fork or hand mixer.
  2. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  3. Roll into about 10 one-inch balls and place on a plate. Eat right away, or cover and refrigerate until you’re ready.

That’s it. Three steps, five minutes, ten bites!

Nutrition

One chocolate chip bite has approximately 125 calories, 8 grams of carbohydrates (1 grams of fiber, 4 grams of sugar), 3 grams of protein, and 2 grams of saturated fat.

These bites are gluten-free, vegetarian, DASH, and MIND-diet-friendly, and include vegan and low-FODMAP options in the recipe notes.

They’re also a smart swap any time you’re craving something sweet but want a snack that actually does something for you — a little protein, a little healthy fat, and just enough chocolate to feel like a treat. • Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • Freezer: These freeze beautifully. Pop them in a freezer-safe container for up to three months. Thaw in the fridge or eat them straight from the freezer for a firmer, fudgier texture.

Recipe Variations & Substitutions

  • No protein powder? No problem. Skip it and add a little extra almond flour if the dough feels too sticky to roll.
  • Nut-free? If you’re allergic to almonds, try grinding sunflower seeds to use in place of both the almond flour and almond oil. The texture will be slightly different but still delicious.
  • Want to make them sweeter? Add an extra teaspoon of maple syrup or a few drops of pure vanilla extract.
  • Extra protein? Double the protein powder and reduce the almond flour slightly to compensate for texture.

They’re similar. Both are no-bake snack balls made with wholesome ingredients. Cookie dough bites are specifically designed to taste and feel like raw cookie dough, while energy bites can be any flavor combination. Think of these as the dessert-y cousin of the classic energy ball.

Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, they’ll keep for up to one week. You can also freeze them for up to three months.

Absolutely. Just add a bit of extra almond flour if the dough is too sticky to roll.

Yes! Almond flour is naturally gluten-free, and the rest of the ingredients are as well. If you have celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity, just double-check that your protein powder and chocolate chips are certified gluten-free.

Yes. Just swap in a plant-based protein powder and vegan chocolate chips. See the recipe notes below for specific protein powder recommendations.
