Weekly Meal Plan {Gluten-Free}

Weekly Meal Plan March 17 // The Spicy RDLots of yummy looking meals this week, including my tried-and-true Spinach, Mushroom & Goat Cheese Pizza {SiSi & Big Tex will probably do marinara, cheese, and possibly olives}, and yummy Salsa Verde Turkey Burgers, plus new recipes to try: Greek Chickpea Salad, Mini Polenta Pizzas, and Slow Cooker Tex-Mex-Chicken.

I decided to start doing regular link love posts for 2 reasons. One, because I regularly stumble across so much information on the internet that I want to share with you {nutrition studies and research, fitness and healthy living tips, etc} but I realize that not everyone is in to Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc {i.e. that’s you Mom and Dad :-)}so this is a way for me to share it with you. And, two, there are so many fabulous bloggers that inspire me and that I follow regularly, but unfortunately I don’t always have the time to comment on or share their blogs, so this is a way for me to do that too :-)

So let’s start now shall we…

Weekly Link Love

  • D is for Detoxification…Depending upon who you talk to, everyone needs a good detox, OR nobody needs to detox at all. This article in the March Issue of Today’s Dietitian sums up my own person  thoughts on the “D Word” pretty well.
  • My Seasonal Fruit and Veggie Love on Pinterest has been very popular, so I thought it would be fun to share my pick of the week from this board.  How about this California Quinoa Winter Salad from my fellow San Diegan Kim Kelley at Liv Life ? Yes, please!!!
  • I’ve been seeing a lot more clients with SIBO {Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth} lately, and this article from Kate Scarlata, RD sums up the latest research on SIBO diagnosis, treatment, and diet very nicely~ a great read for those with SIBO and/or IBS, and for those of you working with clients with these conditions.
  • Want to know where I got the idea for all this wonderful link love? If you haven’t discovered Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean yet, head over to say hi now!  She posts about something healthy {food, fitness, food prep-love this!} almost everyday {clearly she doesn’t have kids :-)}, and is wonderfully supportive of other bloggers-just check out her recent post in honor of National Registered Dietitian Day.  Thanks for all your support Lindsay!!!
  • Here are 6 good tips for slowing down. I can definitely use them.  Can you???
  • Have you been following the latest research on whole milk vs. skim? We switched over to whole {organic, grass fed} milk awhile ago {I like to use a variety of dairy AND non-dairy products}, and I’m happy to see the latest research may support this, but it’s important to note, that portion control is still key, and that milk is not essential to a healthy diet, so if you feel better without dairy in your diet, definitely go without it, BUT if you enjoy it, and tolerate it well, I think whole, organic, pastured/grass-fed products are the way to go. Spring Veggies~Artichoke Love // The Spicy RDAnd I had to share just one more of my Waterlogue creations with you :-) Artichokes are in season which makes me very happy, especially since it’s a vegetable my whole family can agree upon, and as far as nutrition goes, artichokes are pretty awesome…full of fiber, folate, and vitamins C and K, they’re also rich in silymarin which may be protective towards your liver. Oh, and they taste pretty delicious too!
