Today, I’m excited to share some of my favorite bloggers with you, plus a few fun travel pics as well.
Chihuly Glass, Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas, November 2005
You see, last week I was EXTREMELY honored to receive two different blog awards from two very talented and fabulous ladies, Terra of Cafe Terra Blog and Ann of Sumptuous Spoonfuls.
Terra awarded me with the Leibster Blog award, which, for those of you unfamiliar with the award, is passed along to 5 of your “dearest” or “favourite” bloggers.
The rules for the Leibster award are as follows:
- Show your thanks to the blogger that gave you the award by linking back to them. {Thank you so much Terra! You are incredible!!!}
- Reveal your top 5 picks by leaving a comment for them. {See links below.}
- Post the award on your blog. {See above.}
- Enjoy the love of some of the most supportive people on the internet
Cat on a scooter, Rome, Italy, June 2006
In this past year of blogging, I have gotten to know some absolutely amazing, talented, and wonderfully supportive bloggers, so, picking 5 was no easy task…
For this award, I get to share 7 things about myself with you, and pass on the award to 15 of my favorite bloggers, who must then link back to the blogger who shared the award with them, and also share 7 things about themselves.- My given name is Edith Ann. But, I have been going by EA since I was about 6 or 7 years old. Oh, and please, please, please, do not ever call me Edy!
- I used to be a pretty good softball pitcher, and even had few “no hitters” under my belt!
- I’m not really a super “neat” person. If you read my “Dirty Little Secret” post, you might already realize this about me. Despite this, though, I will continue to aspire to be neat, because I feel so much more zen and less stressed out when my house and belongs are all in order!
- I am so NOT flexible. Don’t laugh.
- Despite my inflexibility, my dance partner PJ {PJ and EA!} and I won the dance contest {waltz, fox trot, and cha cha} in middle school Junior Assembly, and I still have the trophy to prove it. When you don’t have to many trophies to begin with, you must hang on to all the ones you get!
- I love, love, love to travel as you’ll see from some of the photos I’m sharing today! There are still so many places I want to go, but one of the places at the top of my list is to visit Machu Pichu.
- My best ever “fun” job in college was the summer I sold flowers at an outdoor flower stand. Two reasons…1. Customers at a flower stand are pretty much always happy
, and, 2. I got to bring home fresh flowers every week. I LOVE having fresh flowers at home, and, if you ask my husband, he’ll tell you I pretty much have an obsession with taking pictures of flowers whenever we travel. {And, I REALLY hate to admit when he’s right, but, sweetie, if you’re reading this, you’re right.}

“Variety is the very spice of life that gives it all it’s flavour.”
William Cowper, 1785.

Thanks EA, finding your blog was like finding a gem- I loved it from the start. One day, I’ll learn to take pretty pictures like you. My inner person is neat/anal but with kids there are more piles. I too adore organization and that Zen feeling. Travel- adore it. I went on Semester at Sea in college and crossed off some fantastic places (India, China, Japan, Russia). We’re looking into the Galapagos, also would love Australia, Africa and some of the National Parks. I’m with you on Macchu Piccu (which I can’t spell without checking and I’m pre coffee).
You’re most welcome Lauren
. I really love your blog too-always so thought provoking-and really appreciate all your support! I can see that your a traveller too, and sounds like you’ve had some amazing adventures. Who knows…maybe we’ll meet at Machu Picchu one day and share a cup of coffee together. (There or a ski resort
Thanks EA! That is soo sweet! I have enjoyed reading your blog so much!
I always love finding out more about other bloggers!
I love the Chihuly Glass at the Bellagio! So beautiful!
You’re so welcome Kristen!! Love your fun blog and hope you come in first place in the mud run this weekend
Congrats on your awards. You are an amazing person who inspires others. These photos are gorgeous!
Thank you KIm!!! You’re pretty amazing too
I had fun going through my old photos. The last one especially makes me smile
Congrats on the awards!!! And thank you so much for passing one on to me!
I love your travel pics! Beautiful! And, yes, I like to travel, but I haven’t traveled as much as I would like to. I would like to travel around Europe one day with hubby and the toddler and show them the places where I spent my vacations when I was a kid. I also have never been to Hawaii and really would like to go. And then there is Korea for the toddler (and hubby) to explore his heritage… One day!
Have a great weekend!
Thanks Andrea and you’re most welcome! Love reading your stories and seeing your healthy recipes! Korea sounds like a fabulous place to visit. My parents were there and had a great time!
Thanks for the award! It was fun to find out more about you. I am a neat person but it’s been slipping lately! And I also love to travel, I would love to spend a year just traveling the globe.
Your welcome Sylvie! Your gorgeous photos and recipes always inspire me! Travel around the globe in a year…sounds good to me!
absolutely beautiful and breathtaking, Very artful and creative.
Thanks so much Teri! I’ve really been enjoying reading your blog as well!
Thanks for the award – I’m so inspired by your blog, your photos, recipes and posts and love learning more about you (will get you to do the fox trot at FNCE next year.)
I like to be neat but with a 4 year old and a husband who doesn’t mind clutter, it’s a constant battle. I LOVE to travel but it has been limited since having my daughter. Though I’m going to Norway in 2 weeks and can’t wait – it’s been way too long since by last overseas trip!
Your welcome Deanna! I there is fox trotting next year at FNCE, I’ll show you some moves
Ha! I’ve never been to Norway, but would love to go sometime. Can’t wait to hear about your trip and see some photos. Have a fabulous time!
ea, thanks for the award… you are so kind. so great to learn more about you and look forward to meeting you in person some day! (love your travel photos too.)
big yay for softball… i played many years and even from the pitching mound too! not sure if i can claim any no-hitters. impressive!
i’m definitely an “everything in it’s place” person. just that everything doesn’t find it’s place in my house as much as i may like it to. especially these days!
happy halloween, blog friend! and thanks again for the award.
You’re most welcome Gretchen
So cool to hear you were a softball pitcher too!!
You totally deserve these awards! And BTW I LOVE your flower pic! (and yes I do the exact same thing when I’m traveling … last summer my kids made me take them back to the hotel when I wanted to wander around the botanical gardens and take more pictures LOL) … thank you Edith Ann for introducing me to some awesome new friends too!
Thanks so much Ann! Love to hear that I am not the only one obsessed with taking pictures of flowers. My kids get kind of annoyed with me too
THANK YOU for the blog award!! I probably won’t pass it on…don’t be offended. HAving had this blog for quite some time, I stopped doing passing along awards a while ago, but it does NOT mean I do not appreciate them! I’m always flattered to get one
Thanks so much.
I do love reading blogs like this, despite the fact that I don’t write them anymore. I learned some fantastic things about you today. First, you were a pitcher too?! I pitched in fast pitch softball for 3 years. While I never threw any no-hitters, I was really great at throwing strikes that people could hit into the outfield and then our great outfielders could catch. It was nice, I miss softball.
Favorite job in college was my catering job. I got to have wedding cake every weekend!!
No worries at all Gina about not passing the award on
Love that you were a softball pitcher too! Tasting wedding cake for your job might just beat out selling flowers!
Awww, Thank You EA for including me! The love goes right back to you. It’s been a wild year of blogging for me (in a good way of course) and when I took a hiatus to become a yoga teacher, everyone still supported me and even more so when I came back. It’s amazing who you meet in the virtual world. SO, Edith huh? I must say I’ve wondered for quite some time now what your real name is! HA! Thanks for sharing, do you feel free now? Kidding. Travel….yes, I must do more of that, I’m hoping for India this year and Greece. I have nothing but fond memories from Italy. Oh, hmmmm, I think I”m one way or the other with neatness. I’ll leave it at that. And…you don’t have to be flexible.
That job selling flowers? Yup, I think I’d also love that job. Such a nice story.
You’re welcome Jen! Yes, Edith
India and Greece are on my list of places to visit as well. Hope you get to at least one of those places this year!
Thanks so much for the Versatile Blogger award, EA! Your blog has been such an inspiration to me with your beautiful photography and great recipes — so much that I just got myself a new camera! I will be sure to pass on the award to my favorite bloggers (although a few of yours are my favs, too) and again, thank you!
You’re most welcome Danielle! So excited to see your pics with your new camera!
Such a sweet surprise to find my blog listed above
Thank you for including me along with all the other fabulous bloggers. As always, I love your photos. That last photo is awesome!! Can’t get over all it’s crazy awesomeness

Fun, fun, fun!
I, too, am excited to finally know what E.A. stands for. Thank you for finally sharing that. lol
1 & 2. I love to travel. We don’t travel too far lately because we are in love with visiting Martha’s Vineyard. But we are planning a European trip for next summer! At the top of my list is Ireland! I really want to see the rolling green hills
3. Flexible? Yes, but when it gets cold (and this year “cold” has arrived early) I become less flexible.
4. I am a classically trained flautist and many gold medals for competition. It’s like a trophy, right?
5. I am very much like you: Not always tidy, but love order. I find myself reorganizing my studio on a regular basis.
6. Favorite “fun” job? I’d have to say my current one! I love designing everything from stickers and stationery to logos and branding
Thank you, again for this lovely shout-out! xoxo
-Patti
Glad you liked the surprise Patti
And, love hearing all about you too, especially the part about you being a classically trained flautist-so cool!
Thanks a bunch for including me on your list EA….I’m so glad to know your real name. I always wondered how parents could name their little girl EA…
Easier to spell of course compared to my name. I’m not sure about those men with high heel shoes on ….I see plenty of that is Key West. Cheers.
Your most welcome Karriann
My parents are actually the ones who started calling me EA, after their friends started calling their daughter Maryann MA. but I was always “Edith Ann” when I got in to trouble, as in “Edith Ann, you go to your room right now!”
Cheers to you too!
thanks for sharing some fun facts about yourself !I too like to travel! We’ve been a lot of places in the past 2 years….HAwaii was my favorite! Happy HAlloween!
Hi Erin! Hawaii is one of my most favorite places to travel too. My husband and i went to Lanai for our honeymoon. It is one of those places where I always feel relaxed…Happy Halloween to you too!
ahhhh i am JUST NOW getting a chance to read your blog! i haven’t had power all weekend because of the storm. awwwww i feel so honored! i LOVE being friends with you and reading your blog. you inspire with GF cooking and dealing with my sensitivities, i don’t know where i would be without your support. btw, i love fresh flowers. they make my day
. hehehe. ps – did u make a gf version of that german chocolate cake? i remember eating it before in my prevegan gf days!
Hi Junia! Hope you’re a little warmer now
Crazy weather out your way, when we are having gorgeous weather here {finally!} Will try to send some your way! I have not made gluten-free German Chocolate cake for myself, but my mom has made it for me {delicious!} I will be asking for some again at the end of this month for my birthday
Congratulations on these awards! I love your travel pictures, especially the Cornwall photo you are sharing. I love to travel and wish there were more time for it. I have been to England a few times and while I am so NOT a city person, running in Kensington park is one of my favorite things to do!
To answer your other questions – No I am not at all flexible. I DO have a LOT of trophies from childhood-college (thank you soccer!!). I am NOT neat, although I try to be….and favorite “fun” jobs I have had include Ski Instructor, Soccer Coach and Horseback-riding camp counselor!
Thanks Tanya! Running in Kensington park sounds fabulous, and I am super envious of your job as ski instructor! Can’t wait for ski season to begin!
I am not at all flexible either…or neat
Love it Nicole!!!
Thank you so much for the versatile blogger award! I am so glad I am catching up on blog reading today and came across this. It really made my day!
I am beyond inflexible. I did gymnastics and cheerleading for years, trained 5 days a week and even with all those hours of stretching and trying to touch my toes, I could still NOT do it. I would go like a week each year where I would finally be able to do it and then it disappeared. Now, I am flexible when it comes to things in life, LOL, as all military spouses should be!
So glad you stopped by Melinda! LOVE what you say about being flexible when it comes to things in life. If I look at it that way, I guess I’m pretty flexible too
I loved your pictures!! Especially the cat’s one! What a cutie… The last picture is really really funny haha
hugs
Thanks Valerie! I had a lot of fun going through all my old travel pics-brought back lots of fun memories
